28 november 2006 - Lakihegy (district of Szigetszentmiklós). JOY-222 still in Pécs livery. In the October of 2006, BKV tasked it`s subcontractor, VT-Transman to perform on lines 38A and 138. Latter one bought withdrawn Ikarus 280s and a 284 from Pécs for this business. The buses were in a real bad condition, so they led to a strong fallback on service level. As a result, a rearrangement was taken on the end of the year, BKV took back the lines. The buses of Transman went under a minimal repair and got the standard grey-blue livery of Budapest city buses. They got their new role on tram replacement services 41V and 47-49V.

In fact Ikarus buses and other CMEA vehicles are hard to find in East Siberia. South Korea and Japan is closer even than Moscow, so no wonder that Zhigulis were replaced Mitsubitshis or Ikarus buses with second-hand Daewoos.

4 september 2008 - Dnipropetrovs’k, vulitsya Tramvayna (Tramway Street). This backstreet in the Vorontsovskiy district is almost entirely seized by the tram tracks. Apart from the four parallel tiny steel stuffs, this kind of road surface is still default in the abandoned outskirts of the ex-USSR cities. Despite of this, the street seems to be respected by motorists, apart from the trams only bicycles and pedestrians can be seen here. A tram on route no. 9 poses on the picture as heading from the „Myasokombinat” (Meat-packing plant) terminus, with a train consisting of two Czechoslovak-made T3’s. It’s speed at 30-35 km/h is relatively high - if we count the bad condition of the tracks.

21 june 2006 - Budapest. Kispest, Határ út. George W. Bush visited the hungarian capital on 21/06/2006. Kőbánya-Kispest terminus had been closed for the time of the delegation passing by. The buses used the Határ út terminus instead.

21 june 2006 - Budapest. Kispest, Határ út terminus. This was the permanent car for route "Ferenc-busz" (now 281) that time. After finished it`s duty, had a break at Határ út terminus, and then left for the garage. This can be seen in the picture. BKV`s only Ikarus Agora (IIG-954) is on the background on route 136 rapid (now 136E), temporarily diverted to Határ út terminus.

9 september 2008 - Kherson, Zalaegerseg Street, trolleybus depot. Service-purpose Ikarus 280 with “ZIU-type” windscreen panels. Well, if the ZIU’s in Hungary got the Ikarus spare parts (headlights, etc.), no wonder that Ikarus buses in Ukraine will have the spare parts of ZIU’s. By the way, the street name “Zalaegerseg” refers to the Hungarian city of Zalaegerszeg, a twin city of Kherson. Really nice :)
