7 october 2008 - Oradea, Romania - depot/zajedznia. Ten new ultra-lowfloor trams, identical to those already running in Wien, are on order for the Oradea system, of which three are already in service. These are the first brand-new trams supplied to Romanian tramways for many years, except three prototypes built locally by RATB Bucuresti. The Oradea management are understandably very proud of these.

2 april 2011 - Oradea (RO) – Olosig. The long-established Oradea system seems to be one of the most efficient tramways in Romania. Tracks are good, services run to high frequencies and there is a mixed fleet of well kept ex-Dresden, Magdeburg and Berlin Tatras and some new Vienna-style Siemens ULF cars (still the only fleet of new trams bought in Romania for many, many years). Here is one of the ULFs at the western junction of the city circle. As these have now been in service for nearly four years, we asked the depot manager how they were performing. “The Siemens warranties start to expire next year, so I will probably be looking for another job just before then”, he joked. So, it sounds like they haven’t been entirely trouble free!

30 august 2008 - Oradea, pętla Nufărul. W tym dniu po mieście kursowały dwa nowoczesne niskopodłogowce, okrążając centrum na liniach 3N i 3R. Co ciekawe, co kurs linia była zmieniana, a wraz z nią kierunek okrążania centrum miasta.

7 october 2008 - Oradea, Romania – Piata 1 Decembrie. OTL surprised the tramway world when it bought a batch of these Siemens ULF cars, identical to those in Wien. Apart from an experimental low-floor car built in Bucuresti, these are the first new-generation trams in Romania and have generated much interest from other Romanian and Hungarian operators. However, I doubt that most Romanian tramways have the money to buy any, and they require well-maintained tracks on which to run – Oradea is quite good in this respect, so let’s hope they will be able to keep them in service.

30 august 2008 - Oradea, Piata Unirii. Tramwaj na najwyższym światowym poziomie. A może raczej najniższym względem torów. We wrześniu w Oradei były już 3 z 10 zamówionych ULFów. Spokojnie jeździły sobie na liniach 3R i 3N z blokowiska do centrum miasta.

7 october 2008 - Oradea, Romania – Nufarol. The third of the new Slemens ULF cars that had been delivered to Oradea at the time of my visit. Seven more were expected before the end of 2008. The OTL Depot Manager says that he prefers to keep Tatra T4s, so will presumably start using these new trams to replace the ex-Berlin KT4Ds.

2 september 2011 - Oradea, strada Corneliu Coposu. 10 niskopodłogowych, 3-letnich ULFów wyróżnia się z tłumu, szczególnie biorąc pod uwagę fakt, że jak dotąd są to jedyne tak nowoczesne tramwaje w całym kraju. Transport publiczny w tym zamieszkanym w ponad 25% przez Węgrów mieście sprawia całkiem dobre wrażenie - stan torowisk i wagonów jest bardzo przyzwoity, na większości przystanków są wyświetlacze, informujące (na podstawie danych z GPS) o najbliższych odjazdach. Autobusy nie pozostają daleko w tyle, ale o tym później :)
